SVG MARITIME ADMINISTRATION OBSERVES INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE SEAFARER
St. Vincent and the Grenadines joined with the global community to observe the Day of the Seafarer, under the auspices of the International Maritime Organisation (IMO).
A release from the SVG Maritime Administration said the theme for the day this year is: It came by sea and I can’t live without it. The Maritime Administration says the celebration is taking the form of a social media campaign involving social networks such as Facebook and Twitter.
Speaking on NBC’s Interface Programme this morning, Director of Maritime Administration, David Robin says a quarter of a million seafarers worldwide operate over 50-thousand ships which transport 90% of global trade by volume and 70-percent by value.
Mr. Robin says the theme chosen for this year is very significant, especially for St. Vincent and the Grenadines
